Corsair has made good ram for a long time; I should know I bought the CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 4gb(2x2)ram about a year ago and it still works today. However, once in while you will be unlucky and get bad ram and I got one. One stick failed the memtestx86-64 # 4 and 5 tests.So I have to use only 2 sticks and the ones I have used before. But, 12gb is still more than enough for gaming and other apps. I am using AMD board so I have to manually put in the timings (not an issue if you buy AMD particular memory, but it is hard to find). In the end, this is a great product; but have ram on standby in case things go wrong. Besides, the DRAM markets in free fall, you should be able to afford it ;)

Surprisingly low profile : Samsung Electronics Extreme Low Voltage 30nm UDIMM 8 Dual Channel Kit DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM MV-3V4G3D/US

This item is great. Leave it to Samsung to innovate something that is already innovative. The stick is tiny and low profile which makes it a great candidate for smaller designs. I used two sticks in my home theater pc and it has plenty of memory to play blu rays and stream hd. Also it is efficient and uses less power meaning it runs cooler. My temperature gauge on my htpc is fairly steady and switching out two sticks of ram for these 2 low power sticks of ram lowered my temperature gauge by 2 degrees.

No problems yet. I would recommend this product to anybody in need of RAM... The RAM itself is excellent; the low profile and the low power consumption are just a bonus.

Price-wise, $50 for 8Gb is fantastic. Especially for the 1600Mhz bandwidth.

Corsair, historically, has been a reputable brand name, thanks to providing ability components. But even under the best of times, problems can ensue.

Both kits arrived, with no atypical behavior suggesting a defective module is installed.

Why I recommend to buy two 8Gb kits, even if there was a net increase of price: These modules are sold in kits, if one module is bad then the entire kit must be returned. The transfer kit could have a defective module as well. With two 8Gb kits, if one module is bad, you still have a working computer while you wait for the transfer to arrive. If one module in each kit is bad, then you're still Sol as these sets are sold as 'matched pairs' to ensure reliability. Mixing Ram modules from discrete sets Could induce execution problems. so when installing the Ram, also make sure to take the first box and put each module in slots 0 and 2 on the ideas board, with the other box put into slots 1 and 3.)
